5 Things You Must Do In Madrid Spain
I have been doing these top 5 lists for almost every city I visit and have gotten a lot of great feedback from everyone. When planning a trip to an unfamiliar city it's important to do some research on your destination. Knowing ahead of time the history, attractions, neighborhoods, restaurants, museums, etc., that a city may offer will help to make the most of your time and really enhance your experience.
So much to do in this great city so if your time is limited my '5 Things You Must Do In Madrid' should help you. Madrid is a large city with great history, food, and people which is why it is one of my favorites. My list of 5 can't possibly capture every great thing to do here and is in no particular order. There is so much Madrid to experience I had to add 2 more must do's!
So enjoy the post and enjoy Madrid!
Most European cities have large squares filled with bars, cafes, and restaurants that are gathering spaces for locals and tourists alike, Plaza Mayor is one of these. Madrid's largest plaza is beautiful and peaceful. While you sit and enjoy a cold beverage music performed by street musicians projects throughout this large plaza adding to the wonderful charm of the moment.
Located just a 5 minute walk from the Plaza Mayor, Puerto del Sol is a wide open busy plaza where many streets converge like a big hub and spoke. This is the center of Madrid and as you wander the streets of Madrid you eventually end up here time and time again. The famous Madrid landmark, El Oso De Madrono, is located here. This statue of the bear reaching the tree to enjoy it's fruits is the symbol of Madrid.

One of the largest parks in Madrid, the Park del Buen Retiro features beautiful landscaping, art, and a famous lake that is filled with a flotilla of people in rented row boats. This park a great place to stroll along in a peaceful setting among perfectly manicured landscape and relax. Madrid is a busy city which is why so many love to escape to such a quiet place such as this.

The Royal Palace is the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family and is open to the public so you can experience just how the Royal Families and past kings lived. The exterior of the palace is massive and impressive, the interior is just as impressive and well worth the price of admission to experience it.

I know this list is supposed to be 5 you must do but I must also recommend you take the Madrid Hop On, Hop Off Bus tours. Madrid is a large city with many neighborhoods that are very spread out. Riding these buses gives you a chance to see all the sights and listen to narration at the same time. I recommend these bus tours in most of the cities I visit and Madrid is no exception.
